Speechless – 2 Chronicles 20:12

“We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you.”
2 Chronicles 20:12

Life is filled with events that leave us speechless in their wake, feeling helpless and at a loss. We look around us and have no idea what to do. What path to take. How to cope with what’s before us. This verse is such a beautiful reminder to me that it’s OK when I feel this way. When I struggle to even comprehend the scope of what’s happened. It reassures me that as I look to my God, my God who is faithful and true and who will never fail, He will guide me with each step. He will be present here. Even in the waiting, even in the shock and confusion. He is here.

My eyes are on You, Lord. Our source of hope. We look to You for strength, for grace to sustain us from one moment to the next, for the assurance that You hold our lives and our future in Your hands, and that You are good. Our eyes are on You to see how You will come through. Trusting that You will with as much faith as we can muster, and asking that You help us with the unbelief that shadows our heart and threatens to steal our joy.

Jesus, be our peace. In the midst of life’s turmoil, with all of its ups and downs, as we fight to maintain some sort of balance, remind us that You are here and You are faithful. You hear us. You see us. You know our heart. And You understand completely. Flood us with the hope that is You, our Rock and our Savior. “You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. Trust in the LORD forever, for the LORD GOD is an everlasting rock” (Isaiah 26:3-4). I pray that our minds would be forever stayed on You, fixed firmly on who You are, trusting You forever and knowing that You are an everlasting, unfailing Rock. Our eyes are on You, Lord. Please come near.
