“For not by their own sword did they win the land, nor did their own arm save them, but your right hand and your arm, and the light of your face, for you delighted in them.” Psalm 44:3
I don’t need to work to make the right things happen. While I do need to act as God leads me, the path of my life isn’t up to me.
My God—the God who freed the Israelites from slavery through great and terrible acts, the God who created all things and holds all things together, the God who conquered the Promised Land for the Israelite army so that His people could take the land—He is the God who fights for me. He is the God whose right hand and whose arm are acting to fulfill His every purpose in my life, to bring about His will and to guide me perfectly. He is the God whose face is shining on me every moment, the God who delights in me.
Not because I’m great or flawless or worthy. Simply because I am His. So by no means do I have cause to worry. Not by my own sword do I win the land. Not by my strength or my skills or my intelligence or by mere chance. It is my God who accomplishes all things. Let this be your encouragement today. “The Lord knows those who are His” (2 Timothy 2:19). He knows you. He sees you. He is fighting for you. And He will not fail.
