“Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord!…There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” Romans 7:24-8:1
It truly is remarkable how much grace we are shown by the God of Heaven. How thoroughly He forgives our many offenses against Him. How beautifully He redeems our sins and our hurts, causing our lives to shine with His glory because of how He transforms us.
We are able to approach His throne without fear. The throne of grace. What greater name could it have? What name could bring more peace to your soul, more assurance to the heart that is burdened with guilt and pain? Grace. Promised to all those who draw near to God through His Son. As wretched as we are, as much as we may struggle with temptations to sin, as much as we fall from His glory, He will deliver us from this body of death. Because He is that great, that powerful, and He loves us that much.
“But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us…made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved” (Ephesians 2:4-5). Saved by grace, made alive with Christ, because our God is rich in mercy and He loves us with a great love. A love that is steadfast. A love we can count on. A love that will never let us go. There will never come a moment when we cross the line and God removes His love from us. There won’t be anything He finds out about us that will cause His love to fail. His grace covers it all. His mercies are new every single morning.
“Who shall bring any charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died—more than that, who was raised—who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us. What shall separate us from the love of Christ?…For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:33-35, 38-39). Our guilt has been paid. Our sins have been forgiven. Nothing can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus. We are delivered from this body of death and born again to a living hope. ”Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead” (1 Peter 1:3).
