“When the wicked dies, his hope will perish,
and the expectation of wealth perishes too.”
In Christ, our hope will never perish, even in death. Because death itself cannot separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 8:38-39).
It isn’t our own righteousness that gives us peace here. It is the promise that our God is faithful. Jesus came to earth not to condemn sinners, but to save us. Believing in Him, trusting in His cross and humbling ourselves at His feet, we will never perish. He has become our hope.
“You, Lord, laid the foundation of the earth in the beginning, and the heavens are the work of your hands; they will perish, but you remain; they will all wear out like a garment, like a robe you will roll them up, like a garment they will be changed. But you are the same, and your years have no end” (Hebrews 1:10-12). What better foundation could be found for our hope than the One who will remain the same forever? The One who will outlast even the heavens?
No matter how dark the day, our hope remains. Because our Savior will never fail us. His love will never leave us. Come what may, He is the immovable Rock to whom we can cling in every storm.
“‘Death is swallowed up in victory.’
‘O death, where is your victory?
O death, where is your sting?’
The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.
But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
1 Corinthians 15:54-57
“He will swallow up death forever;
and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from all faces,
and the reproach of his people he will take away from all the earth,
for the LORD has spoken.
It will be said on that day,
‘Behold, this is our God; we have waited for him, that he might save us.
This is the LORD; we have waited for him;
let us be glad and rejoice in his salvation.”
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, who by God’s power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.” 1 Peter 1:3-5
