“And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? If then you are not able to do as small a thing as that, why are you anxious about the rest?” Luke 12:25-26
Our God is so great, so all-powerful, that the thought of adding an hour to someone’s span of life is a small thing.
We get so easily anxious about a variety of things. But even the “big” things that can worry us, He can easily handle. He upholds the universe by the word of His power (Hebrews 1:3). Certainly He can uphold your life and take care of that which concerns you (Psalm 54:4). It isn’t too big for Him to resolve and it isn’t too small to escape His notice.
Because He cares for you. He keeps watch over your life. He tells you not to fear, not to be anxious, because He is with you and will take care of everything with flawless timing. Whether it is adding time to your life here, keeping the earth spinning on its axis, or calming your heart with words of His faithfulness. He is able to see to each detail in perfect wisdom and grace.
He sees all things from beginning to end. Every circumstance, every outcome, every possibility. So we can trust that He knows what He’s doing. It’s still difficult to wait at times. But God is with you here, in the waiting. Speaking to you. Guiding you. Gently reminding you of truth. Calling you to wait on Him, to trust Him fully, because He will not let you down.
Thank you for writing this post. I have been very anxious lately, and this really ministered to me.
Lori, I’m so glad God spoke to you through this. Anxiety settles in so easily and can be so hard to shake. I pray He will continue to ease your mind and settle your heart, reminding you of His constant faithfulness.
