My Salvation – Isaiah 12:2

“Behold, God is my salvation;
I will trust, and will not be afraid;
for the LORD GOD is my strength and my song,
and he has become my salvation.”

Isaiah 12:2

Salvation is found in the LORD our God. There is no other name by which we are saved, only that of Jesus. He is our strength. He is the source of the song in our soul. He is our hope, our healing, our light, and the One through whom we can know forgiveness and reconciliation.

“Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God” (Psalm 20:7). “And those who know your name put their trust in you, for you, O LORD, have not forsaken those who seek you” (Psalm 9:10). As we seek the Lord, as we come to know Him and to know the truth and power in His great name, we trust Him no matter what trials we face. Fear leaves as He reveals to our heart the depth and steadfastness and perfection of His love, and the sovereignty and might with which He rules His kingdom.

Our God has all dominion. He receives all glory. All power belongs to Him. And He is for us. He is our salvation, our strength, and our song. He will not forsake us. He will not forget us. He will never be unfaithful. All of His purposes will be fulfilled, because He has declared it to be so—and that is enough. He has such power that nothing in all of creation is strong enough to overcome our Lord. His voice is powerful and full of majesty. We can rest in Him, knowing that He will uphold us.

The trials we face aren’t easy. I’m not trying to diminish the difficulty and pain that they bring. Loss, sickness, the apparent falling apart of our lives…whatever fire or valley we must walk through will likely stretch us to our limit. We may begin to wonder how a God who is for us could allow such things to happen, how He could purpose good out of our situation, or how He will come through when everything appears hopeless.

But know this: God is faithful. Right here, in this moment. He is here. With you. He understands. He knows the hurt and the hardship. He brings us to the end of ourselves so that we can experience the fullness of His grace and the immeasurable greatness of His power toward us who believe in Him. He is your salvation. He will come through. Watch for Him. Wait for Him expectantly. Trust in Him absolutely. You will come to know the truth in this calling of Isaiah 12:6, “Shout, and sing for joy, O inhabitant of Zion, for great in your midst is the Holy One of Israel.”
