“Even to your old age I am he,
and to gray hairs I will carry you.
I have made, and I will bear;
I will carry and will save.”
Isaiah 46:4
Our Lord is so faithful. When we choose to trust in Christ and live in Him, we are sealed with the Holy Spirit. The Spirit of God, poured into our heart, awakening our soul, dwelling with us each moment, because of the Father’s great love and through the Son’s willing sacrifice.
This seal signifies a promise we can never lose. The Lord knows those who are His (2 Timothy 2:19). And because we are His and are known by Him, we are able to look at passages such as Psalm 121 and know they will ring true for us every moment, every day, for the rest of our lives and for all eternity.
“He will not let your foot be moved; he who keeps you will not slumber. Behold, he who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The LORD is your keeper; the LORD is your shade on your right hand…The LORD will keep you from all evil; he will keep your life. The LORD will keep your going out and your coming in, from this time forth and forevermore.” (Psalm 121:3-8)
The Lord of heaven keeps us. Even to old age. He is our God. He is everything He says He is. He fulfills every promise. He never changes and will never fail. Always perfecting us, always filling us with Himself, always being good to us, always working—even when we can’t see it. He is here. Carrying us, sustaining us, to our very last breath in this life.
The God who owns all things has made you with intention. He chose you before the foundation of the world to be His witness, part of the remnant which will display His glorious grace. He will bear you up daily. He will carry. He will save. Saved to the uttermost. Not a stain of sin overlooked or a dark spot in your heart uncleansed. Entirely redeemed and made whole. So that He can present you before His glory with great joy.
I am so thankful to know that however many years I live, whatever heartache and difficulties I go through, I will find my God faithful every time. My Jesus is called Faithful and True for good reason (Revelation 19:11). It’s because those characteristics have stood and will stand fast for all time. My immovable rock. My refuge. My strength. My salvation. My song.
“For your steadfast love is before my eyes,
and I walk in your faithfulness.”
Psalm 26:3
