“And there shall be a time of trouble, such as never has been since there was a nation till that time. But at that time your people shall be delivered, everyone whose name shall be found written in the book…And those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the sky above, and those who turn many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever.”
When our lives are kept in Christ, we always have hope. We are sealed with the Holy Spirit of God, assured of His constant faithfulness and guaranteed everlasting life in the glory of God. Which means that no matter what we experience here on earth, even if evil continues to grow and everything seems to only get worse, deliverance is a promise to which we can cling.
We are the people of God. Chosen to display the glory of His grace. Pursued by His loving-kindness, not because of anything we have done, but purely because of who He is. Our Lord knows those who are His. He will not abandon us. He will be ever-faithful and His love unfailing. The God of heaven daily bears us up. He is the upholder of your life and nothing can shake you from His grasp.
It may appear at times as if those faithful to the Lord are few and far between. But hold fast. You are not alone. Your Savior sees you and will be faithful to reward you for choosing to love and serve Him all of your days.
“I know your works. You have the reputation of being alive, but you are dead…Yet you have still a few names in Sardis, people who have not soiled their garments, and they will walk with me in white, for they are worthy. The one who conquers will be clothed thus in white garments, and I will never blot his name out of the book of life. I will confess his name before my Father and before his angels” (Revelation 3:1, 4-5).
“Behold, I will make those of the synagogue of Satan who say that they are Jews and are not, but lie—behold, I will make them come and bow down before your feet and they will learn that I have loved you…The one who conquers, I will make him a pillar in the temple of my God. Never shall he go out of it, and I will write on him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which comes down from my God out of heaven, and my own new name” (Revelation 3:9, 12).
For each person whose name is written in the book of life—for all who have chosen to trust in Christ and follow Him—hope is never lost. Regardless of the trouble we find here. This life is lived with the curse of sin surrounding us. The consequences of the evil, rebellious choices of generations. But that is not the end of our story, for our Lord has conquered and we will reign with Him. Shining like the stars. Experiencing the immeasurable riches of His glorious grace throughout all the coming ages.
