Hearts God Has Touched – 1 Samuel 10:26

“Saul also went to his home at Gibeah, and with him went men of valor whose hearts God had touched.”
1 Samuel 10:26

God touches our hearts to serve Him in different ways. 1 Corinthians 12:18 tells us, “But as it is, God arranged the members in the body, each one of them, as he chose.” Each of us who are in the body of Christ have a specific purpose, an intended role within our God’s plan—His plan to bring Himself great glory, to make His name known among the nations, and to bring us fullness of joy.

It is up to our God to lead us to the role He has designed us for. And it is up to us to humble ourselves to hear Him and to obediently follow, even if the task seems too great for us or is simply not what we expected. The Lord will equip us in every way. He is with us here, and He will be with us in each calling He places on our lives. He knows what He’s doing and He is working within us to prepare us for each purpose. We may not have any idea why He calls us to certain areas of service. We may feel vastly unworthy. But our obedience to Him, our trust in His wisdom and understanding and His ability to provide for and sustain us, shows the strength of our faith. And the strength of our faith reflects to those around us the greatness of our God.

Because His greatness is unsearchable. He is great, and His name is great in might. He is the powerful, almighty God who is holy and righteous and true. He is the faithful One who will never fail, the Father who will never forget us and who gives good gifts to His children. He has poured His love into our hearts through His Holy Spirit, which we received when we chose to trust in the Son He sent to take our place on the cross.

It is this God who touches our hearts, who has planned each of our days from the very beginning, knowing how we would bring Him glory. We have purpose here. We have hope. In all that we are called to do, we are never alone. We have the immeasurable greatness of the power of God Most High within us, working to perfect His character in us and to bring about His every purpose. So let us follow Him with unwavering confidence, knowing that He arranges the body of Christ exactly as He wills, in wisdom and grace, and has chosen the exact role for each of us that we were meant to fill. The role may change with the seasons of our lives, but it is all a part of His beautiful, divine tapestry. He will be faithful to complete His work in each of us. Let us be faithful to follow as He leads.
