For His Glory – Exodus 14:13-15, 18

“And Moses said to the people, ‘Fear not, stand firm, and see the salvation of the LORD,
which he will work for you today…The LORD will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.’
The LORD said to Moses, ‘Why do you cry to me? Tell the people of Israel to go forward…And the Egyptians shall know that I am the LORD, when I have gotten glory over Pharaoh, his chariots, and his horsemen.’”

Exodus 14:13-15, 18

Reading over this passage, I am reminded – God acts in ways that bring Him glory. He purposes to make His glory evident, to make His name known. “And the Egyptians shall know that I am the LORD.”

They shall know that He is God, and there is no other. He will not share His glory with another. He is the sovereign, supreme authority in all the universe and He will see His purposes and His will accomplished.

“I am the LORD; that is my name;
my glory I give to no other,
nor my praise to carved idols.”
Isaiah 42:8

“For I am God, and there is no other;
I am God, and there is none like me,
declaring the end from the beginning,
and from ancient times things not yet done,
saying, ‘My counsel shall stand,
and I will accomplish all my purpose.’…
I have spoken, and I will bring it to pass;
I have purposed, and I will do it.”
Isaiah 46:9-11.

The wonderful part about this for those who are His? I believe it’s captured beautifully in Joel 2:25-27:

“I will restore to you the years
that the swarming locust has eaten,
the hopper, the destroyer, and the cutter,
my great army, which I sent among you.
You shall eat in plenty and be satisfied,
and praise the name of the LORD your God,
who has dealt wondrously with you.
And my people shall never again be put to shame.
You shall know that I am in the midst of Israel,
and that I am the LORD your God and there is none else.
And my people shall never again be put to shame.”

Our God makes Himself known to the world—His glory, His power, His absolute authority—through His faithfulness to His people. He restores. He provides. He shows up in our circumstances and is glorified in His faithfulness to us.

2 Timothy 2:19 affirms, “The LORD knows those who are his.” He knows each one of us, knows all that we are going through, and He will not leave us floundering. He will not abandon us in our affliction—to the contrary, He will draw very near. He will use the most difficult seasons of our lives to deliver us from anything holding us captive and to bring us into His place of abundance (Job 36:15, Psalm 66:10-12).

“What no eye has seen, nor ear heard,
nor the heart of man imagined,
what God has prepared for those who love him”
1 Corinthians 2:9

“From of old no one has heard
or perceived by the ear,
no eye has seen a God besides you,
who acts for those who wait for him.”
Isaiah 64:4

“And those who know your name put their trust in you,
for you, O LORD, have not forsaken those who seek you.”
Psalm 9:10

We love Him. We wait for Him. We seek the LORD our God. And He will show up in great glory, to make the world know that He is the LORD, the God who is in our midst.
