Running Radiantly – Psalm 34:5

“Those who look to Him are radiant,
and their faces shall never be ashamed.”

Psalm 34:5

Radiant.

With the joy of Christ in us which comes from abiding in Him and in His love, a joy that is full beyond any other. (John 15:1-11)

With peace knowing that He who is in us is greater than all, that He is light which darkness cannot overcome, because He has overcome the world. (John 10:29; 1 John 4:4; John 1:5; John 16:33)

With knowledge of the steadfastness of our God and His love for us. Love that surpasses knowledge but which has been poured into our hearts through His Spirit who seals us. (Romans 8:38-39; Ephesians 3:16-19; Romans 5:5; Ephesians 1:13-14)

Radiant believing that God intricately wove us together, each detail, with love and purpose. We don’t need to conform our personality or strengths to someone else’s; we only need to surrender our hearts and minds to Christ to align them with His truth, His love, and His purposes. (Psalm 139:15, 23-24)

Radiant because He walks with us. He goes before us. He equips, strengthens, and prepares us. He is our rear guard. He hems us in, behind and before, surrounding us as the mountains surround Jerusalem. (Deuteronomy 31:8; Isaiah 52:12; Psalm 18:31-34; Psalm 139:5; Psalm 125:2)

Radiant because we know where we are going. We know the end of our race. Jesus is there. Our Champion and our greatest prize. Knowing Him surpasses anything else, fills us with greater satisfaction, fulfillment, and joy than we can imagine. The end of our journey here – which is really the beginning of life everlasting, life as it was meant to be – is Christ. Life and light and glory, pleasures forevermore as we delight and bask and worship in His presence. (Philippians 3:8; Psalm 16:11; Revelation 22:1-5)

And our faces shall never be ashamed. Because He will never fail us. Our hope is not in vain. Our faith will be sight. So let us run our race radiant and confident, knowing that our great God will never let us down.

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight,
and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,
looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross,
despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.”

Hebrews 12:1-2
