“May God be gracious to us and bless us
and make His face to shine upon us,
that Your way may be known on earth,
Your saving power among all nations.”
God’s revealing Himself, demonstrating His power, His name being made great – this is always the end goal. This is the root.
“I will go before you
and level the exalted places,
I will break in pieces the doors of bronze
and cut through the bars of iron,
I will give you the treasures of darkness
and the hoards in secret places,
that you may know that it is I, the LORD,
the God of Israel, who call you by your name.”
“The threshing floors shall be full of grain;
the vats shall overflow with wine and oil.
I will restore to you the years
that the swarming locust has eaten,
the hopper, the destroyer, and the cutter,
my great army, which I sent among you.
You shall eat in plenty and be satisfied,
And praise the name of the LORD your God,
who has dealt wondrously with you.
And my people shall never again be put to shame.
You shall know that I am in the midst of Israel,
And that I am the LORD your God and there is none else.
And my people shall never again be put to shame.”
This is why we can have confidence, why our heart can take courage in the face of seemingly insurmountable obstacles, deep discouragement, or pain.
Our God will show the world who He is. He will show us who He is.
And He is not a god who fails.
He is not a god who forgets.
He is not a god who abandons.
No, He is our God who saves. Who is faithful and true. Who knows those who are His and will not let them go, holding them up in steadfast love and unmatched power.
He will show the world that He is the Lord our God, and there is no other. He is holy. He is singular – there is no equal to match Him. In might or in character.
“Break forth into singing,
you waste places of Jerusalem,
For the LORD has comforted His people;
He has redeemed Jerusalem.
The LORD has bared His holy arm
before the eyes of all the nations,
and all the ends of the earth shall see
the salvation of our God.”
