“Your hands have made and fashioned me;
give me understanding that I may learn your commandments.”
How amazing it is to know that the hands of God Himself made and fashioned each of us. Every detail. Our personalities, our looks, our strengths, our passions…all chosen by our Creator and all purposed for His glory.
Psalm 139:15 says that you were “intricately woven.” There was intentionality as God fashioned you. There is intentionality now, as His Spirit works in you to make you like Christ.
I find such comfort and confidence in this assurance. Each of us is unique. We aren’t going to have the same strengths and characteristics as those around us. We may look at someone else and wish we were more like them, thinking we would fit in better or be liked more or that life would be easier if we could just change. But God has a purpose designed for you, a specific way that you will bring Him glory, simply by being exactly who you are and who He is making you in Christ.
Rejoice today, knowing that you were fashioned in love and faithfulness. You were intricately woven. And from the moment you chose to surrender your life to Christ, His Spirit has been working to perfect your faith and replace the sin in your life with joy, hope, and freedom. God has a plan for you. He has a niche that you will fill. Just focus your eyes on Him, allow His grace to do its powerful, wonderful work, and follow Him in confident faith.
“O LORD, you have searched me and known me!…
You search out my path and my lying down
and are acquainted with all my ways…
I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
Wonderful are your works;
my soul knows it very well.
My frame was not hidden from you,
when I was being made in secret,
intricately woven in the depths of the earth.
Your eyes saw my unformed substance;
in your book were written, every one of them,
the days that were formed for me,
when as yet there were none of them.
How precious to me are your thoughts, O God!
How vast is the sum of them!
If I would count them, they are more than the sand.
I awake, and I am still with you.”
Psalm 139:1, 3, 14-18
